We decided to spend the day in the snow and headed off to Bear Valley. The drive up was amazingly beautiful with all the fresh snow piled at least 4-5′ deep! We pulled off a few places and played in the snow and had an amazing time!
Make a stop at the Calaveras Big Trees state park and take in the awe and beauty of these amazing trees, the continue on and make a quick stop at the Arnold Rim Trail and Logging museum to enjoy some snow activities. The Museum has some really amazing old machinery outside and you can take a walk around the lake. After you’ve enjoyed yourself there head on up to Bear Valley and spend your day in the snow! After you’ve had your day head on back down the mountain and get back to a nice warm teardrop trailer! Spend the evening around the camp fire, cooking dinner, listening to the coyotes and go to bed in a nice comfortable bed! You’ll be cozy and sleep well after such a fun day of snow activities!
Wake up Sunday morning and head over to Columbia State Park, where gold was discovered in the area that became Columbia on March 27, 1850, and was one of the richest finds of the California Gold Rush. This town was covered to a state park in 1945 and is truly a hidden gem! Spend a few hours exploring the town and visiting the museum and then head on over to Murphys, CA downtown area where you’ll find plenty of wine tasting and food. Enjoy the afternoon and then head back to Vallejo to drop off your teardrop and head on home.
